Job Details

• Setting: Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care / Stepdown Unit
• Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Start Date: 8/31/2026
• End Date: 1/4/2027
• Duration: 18-week travel nursing assignment
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; every other weekend and major holidays required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit Size: 27-bed progressive care unit with continuous cardiac monitoring
• Employment Type: Travel RN

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or compact licensure eligibility
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• BLS and ACLS required
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Ability to read and verify rhythm strips; EKG exam must be passed at orientation
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and Amiodarone
• Experience with BiPAP and insulin drips required
• Proficiency with lab draws and peripheral IV starts
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to remain calm in rapidly changing situations

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized plans of care for progressive care and stepdown patients
• Administer medications safely and in alignment with professional nursing standards and unit protocols
• Monitor telemetry, cardiac rhythms, and patient status for all assigned patients
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips while responding appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Provide nursing care for patients with chest tubes and progressive cardiac needs
• Support patients receiving BiPAP, insulin infusions, and other advanced respiratory or cardiac therapies
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate quality patient care
• Educate patients and families while advocating for safety, comfort, and positive outcomes
• Float within demonstrated skill set as needed to support ICU, Med/Surg, or ED holding patients of lower acuity
