• Position: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown

• Contract Length: 18 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Weekly Schedule: Approximately 36 hours per week, typically 3 shifts per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Medical Step-Down / Progressive Care Unit
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, surgical, renal, and respiratory needs
• Schedule Expectations: Every other weekend and major holiday coverage required

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience in acute care, step-down, or progressive care strongly preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS required
• NIH Stroke certification required
• Ability to pass an EKG exam at orientation
• Proficiency with lab draws required
• Comfort working in a high-acuity environment with changing patient conditions
• Strong communication, prioritization, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation
• Monitor and manage patients requiring cardiac drips, titrations, BiPAP, insulin infusions, and telemetry support
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and care for patients with chest tubes and temporary pacing needs
• Administer medications safely and respond quickly to changes in patient status
• Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Provide patient and family education that supports recovery, safety, and understanding of treatment plans
• Maintain accurate documentation and support quality patient outcomes
• Serve as an advocate for patient safety, comfort, and dignity
