NICU Registered Nurse - Travel RN Job in Midlothian, Virginia

Level III NICU Registered Nurse travel job in Midlothian, Virginia. Join a high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery and provide compassionate, expert care to critically ill newborns while working with a collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Job Details

• Location: Midlothian, Virginia
• Setting: Level III NICU / Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery
• Employment Type: Travel RN
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: Every other weekend and major holidays required
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Start Date: 8/31/2026

Job Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure eligibility
• Minimum 3 years of Registered Nurse experience required
• Previous NICU, pediatric, medical-surgical, OB, ED, or critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; PALS preferred at hire and may be required within 6 months based on unit needs
• Strong neonatal assessment skills and the ability to care for neonates and pediatric patients
• Experience with Epic EHR preferred
• Ability to work nights, float as needed, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Comfortable with neonatal procedures and high-acuity patient care

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to neonatal patients in a Level III NICU
• Complete comprehensive assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and collaborate with the care team on timely interventions
• Support neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, and ongoing intensive care needs
• Assist with procedures and bedside care including IV therapy, arterial sticks, blood draws, heel sticks, umbilical lines, bubble CPAP, and ventilator support
• Educate and support families through treatment plans, discharge teaching, and follow-up preparation
• Maintain accurate documentation and use clinical technology to support quality patient outcomes
• Promote a safe, respectful, and family-centered environment for patients, families, and coworkers
