Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job in Hilo, Hawaii | Adult Acute Care Assignment

• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Setting: Adult Medical-Surgical Unit
• Location: Hilo, Hawaii 96720 | scenic coastal community on Hawaii Island's east side
• Start Date: 08/31/2026
• Assignment Length: 15 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,860-$1,960
• Schedule Notes: Must be flexible to work various shift lengths and days; no guarantee of hours or shift preference

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience or higher-acuity acute care experience
• Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license required by the start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong experience providing care for adult medical-surgical patients
• Ability to adapt quickly in a travel nurse assignment and float as needed
• Must be prepared to arrive on time for all pre-start onboarding and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients in an acute care environment
• Monitor patient conditions, complete assessments, and support individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments according to clinical protocols and nursing standards
• Use Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, chest tubes, and other unit equipment as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the healthcare team to promote safe patient outcomes
• Float to surgical pediatrics or transitional care units when assigned
• Maintain professional nursing attire and closed-toe shoes in accordance with unit expectations
