Registered Nurse – Outpatient Blood & Marrow Collection Program | Washington, DC 20007

Job Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg / Outpatient Blood & Marrow Collection
  • Location: Washington, DC 20007
  • Schedule: 4 shifts per week
  • Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,780 - $1,870
  • Contract Length: 30 weeks
  • Orientation: 28 hours
  • Setting: Outpatient clinic
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Schedule Notes: No evening, night, weekend, or on-call shifts

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC
  • At least 2 years of recent nursing experience within the last 7 years
  • Minimum of 1 previous travel assignment
  • Strong IV start skills, including peripheral IV placement in the lower arms and hands
  • Comfort working in an outpatient oncology, blood and marrow collection, or stem cell donation environment
  • Experience with Cerner preferred or required
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS and OCN certifications as required by the unit
  • Ability to adapt to cross-trained responsibilities and provide team coverage when needed

Responsibilities

  • Support the outpatient collection of bone marrow and stem cells from donors and patients
  • Start IVs and prepare donors for collection procedures
  • Assist with physical assessments, chart review, and donor clearance coordination
  • Administer oral, IV, and SQ medications as ordered
  • Provide filgrastim injections and complete donor education as needed
  • Deliver discharge instructions and reinforce follow-up care information
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure strong administrative consistency
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support smooth daily operations
  • Float to other departments when hospital needs require support
  • Contribute to a team-oriented environment focused on safe, efficient patient care
