Job Details
- Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
- Type: Travel RN
- Location: Ellsworth, Maine
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: September 7, 2026
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts
- Typical Schedule: Approximately 3 shifts per week, with every other weekend and every other holiday expected
- Call: No call required
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,470 - $2,600
- Charting System: Cerner
- Orientation: General hospital orientation plus 1 shift on the unit
- Floating: May float to Med-Surg or ED for task support only
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- First-time travelers considered with at least 3 years of L&D experience
- Experience with all phases of labor and postpartum care, including care of well babies
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
- STABLE certification required within 30 days of start
- Ability to support low- and moderate-acuity maternity patients and newborns
- Comfort working in an LDRP model and caring for mother-baby couplets
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care throughout labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn recovery
- Deliver high-quality maternity care in an LDRP environment, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum needs
- Support newborn assessments and routine care such as vital signs, thermoregulation, and glucose monitoring
- Assist with common Labor & Delivery scenarios including shoulder dystocia, epidural management, nitrous administration, and intrathecal spinal analgesia support
- Provide neonatal support in C-section deliveries as needed by catching babies and delivering immediate newborn care
- Care for couplets, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeder/grower infants
- Respond to postpartum conditions and low-acuity overflow patients as assigned
- Collaborate with the charge nurse, midwife, hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and other support services to ensure safe, patient-centered care
