Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent registered nurse experience required; 1-2 years of post-op surgical and general Med-Surg experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Strong skills in postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical nursing
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
• Comfortable caring for orthopedic, trauma, fracture, and post-op patients
• Must meet onboarding requirements, including a negative drug screen
• Professional appearance required; tattoos and piercings must be covered

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to orthopedic and post-surgical patients
• Care for a wide variety of medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma patients with fractures
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition in a fast-paced acute-care environment
• Collaborate with the charge RN, house supervisor, PCTs, and interdisciplinary team to support safe patient care
• Use EPIC for accurate and timely documentation
• Support patients requiring CPAP or heated high-flow therapy by troubleshooting as needed
• Float to other Med-Surg units when required by staffing needs
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining a professional, team-oriented approach
