Overview

This 13-week travel nursing assignment is an excellent fit for an experienced acute care Registered Nurse who thrives in telemetry, stepdown, and high-acuity progressive care settings. You will support patients with cardiac, oncology, thoracic, and other complex medical and surgical needs while working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team in Madison, WI.

• Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Nurse
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Start Date: September 14, 2026
• End Date: December 14, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, with every other weekend and some holidays required
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Setting: Acute Med / Progressive Care / Stepdown Unit
• Patient Population: Adult patients with complex medical, cardiac, and surgical needs

Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience within the last 3 years
• Recent experience in telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown required
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and transplant patients required
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
• Experience in an academic Level I or Level II trauma center, or a similar-size hospital, required

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to acutely ill adult patients in a cardiac stepdown and progressive care setting
• Monitor telemetry patients and respond quickly to rhythm changes, clinical changes, and evolving patient needs
• Care for patients with cardiac, oncology, thoracic, and other complex medical diagnoses
• Manage ventilated patients and support post-transplant care as needed
• Assist with IV therapies, cardiac drips, and advanced bedside interventions
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, and other support services
• Float as needed to support unit needs and maintain safe staffing
• Complete required telemetry testing and demonstrate strong rhythm interpretation skills
• Deliver compassionate, team-based care in a fast-paced academic healthcare environment
