Overview
This 13-week travel nursing assignment is an excellent fit for an experienced acute care Registered Nurse who thrives in telemetry, stepdown, and high-acuity progressive care settings. You will support patients with cardiac, oncology, thoracic, and other complex medical and surgical needs while working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team in Madison, WI.

- Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Nurse
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin
- Start Date: September 14, 2026
- End Date: December 14, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, with every other weekend and some holidays required
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Setting: Acute Med / Progressive Care / Stepdown Unit
- Patient Population: Adult patients with complex medical, cardiac, and surgical needs
Job Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience within the last 3 years
- Recent experience in telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and transplant patients required
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- Epic charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
- Experience in an academic Level I or Level II trauma center, or a similar-size hospital, required
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to acutely ill adult patients in a cardiac stepdown and progressive care setting
- Monitor telemetry patients and respond quickly to rhythm changes, clinical changes, and evolving patient needs
- Care for patients with cardiac, oncology, thoracic, and other complex medical diagnoses
- Manage ventilated patients and support post-transplant care as needed
- Assist with IV therapies, cardiac drips, and advanced bedside interventions
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, and other support services
- Float as needed to support unit needs and maintain safe staffing
- Complete required telemetry testing and demonstrate strong rhythm interpretation skills
- Deliver compassionate, team-based care in a fast-paced academic healthcare environment
