Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license required
• Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• At least 1 year of experience in obstetrics, labor & delivery, or maternal-newborn care preferred
• AHA BLS within 1 month of hire
• NRP within 6 months of hire
• ALSO within 1 year of hire
• STABLE within 1 year of hire
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 1 year of hire
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent clinical judgment required

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for maternal and newborn patients in an Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery setting
• Complete nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized care plans
• Triages patient needs based on presenting symptoms and clinical priorities
• Administer medications accurately and safely in accordance with nursing standards
• Assess labor progression and support induction of labor and cervical ripening
• Respond to emergency obstetric situations such as postpartum hemorrhage, breech delivery, cord prolapse, uterine rupture, and placental complications
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
• Assess newborns, perform neonatal resuscitation within scope, and recognize signs of neonatal distress
• Monitor for concerns such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, jaundice, and sepsis
• Educate patients and families to support involvement in newborn care and discharge readiness
• Communicate clearly and promptly with the interdisciplinary care team regarding patient status changes
• Support Med Surg/EICU patients when needed and perform other duties as assigned
