Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Vermont or eligibility to practice in the state
• Minimum of 3 years of emergency room nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency department
• Experience in a critical access hospital or smaller community hospital setting is a plus
• Commitment to attending quarterly department education sessions
• Reliable personal transportation recommended due to limited public transportation in the Newport, VT area

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to emergency department patients
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on acuity and clinical need
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to support safe, timely treatment
• Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to changes in condition
• Administer medications and perform nursing interventions within scope of practice
• Document care accurately and maintain excellent communication with the healthcare team
• Participate in rotating shift coverage and every-other-weekend scheduling
• Support a positive patient experience while delivering dependable emergency care
