Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of RN experience required; behavioral health nursing or psych RN experience strongly preferred
• Active Oregon RN license, or ability to obtain before start date
• BLS for the Healthcare Provider required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience caring for child and adolescent patients in acute behavioral health or psychiatric settings
• Comfort managing anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use concerns, and suicidal ideation
• Ability to work rotating shifts and every other weekend
• Reliable vehicle required due to potential floating needs
• Willingness to complete PMAB training, which is provided onsite

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for pediatric and adolescent patients experiencing acute behavioral health crises
• Complete nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and respond to changes in behavior or condition
• Administer medications and support treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team
• Use therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to promote a calm, structured, and healing environment
• Support patient safety protocols, including milieu management, seclusion procedures, and physical hold protocols when needed
• Document care accurately in Epic and communicate clearly with physicians, mental health staff, and unit leadership
• Collaborate with social services, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and unit support staff to promote positive patient outcomes
• Float to other units or nearby facilities as needed based on skill set and patient care needs
