Psychiatric RN Job Requirements

• Active New York State RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric mental health experience
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Experience supporting patients in an acute behavioral health or psychiatric setting
• Strong communication, teamwork, and de-escalation skills
• Preferred: CPI Blue Card
• Preferred: Experience in a large, academic medical center
• Preferred: Telemetry experience

Psych RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, and therapeutic nursing care to children and adolescents in acute psychiatric crisis
• Support stabilization through structured therapeutic programming and psychopharmacological interventions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team to help patients meet individualized treatment goals
• Participate in group-based interventions such as activities therapy, mindfulness, wellness, and coping skills support
• Monitor patient status, document care accurately, and respond appropriately to changing behavioral health needs
• Promote a calm, respectful, and healing environment for patients and families
