- Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
- Location: Abilene, Texas 79601
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Job
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: September 8, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Call: Once every 6 weeks
- Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,820 - $1,910
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Charting: Altera experience preferred
- Unit Type: Cardiac Stepdown / IMCU
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac stepdown, IMCU, telemetry, or related acute care nursing
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and telemetry patients
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Comfort working with low-acuity ICU patients and high-acuity telemetry patients
- Ability to complete required compliance and lab items within the specified timeframe
- Travel nurse experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care for cardiac stepdown and intermediate care patients
- Monitor patients with continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring
- Titrate and manage cardiac and vasoactive infusions as ordered
- Perform frequent neurological assessments for patients receiving thrombolytic therapy or post-TNK care
- Care for patients with high oxygen needs, pacemakers, pericardial drains, and other complex cardiac conditions
- Interpret telemetry rhythms, assess for changes in condition, and escalate care appropriately
- Administer medications and support treatment plans for post-cardiac cath, STEMI, and other acute cardiac diagnoses
- Collaborate with the charge nurse and interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold unit standards for safety, quality, and professionalism
