Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support a busy cardio thoracic telemetry unit caring for adult patients with a wide range of cardiac, respiratory, and post-surgical needs. This travel nursing assignment offers a strong mix of bedside assessment, telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and hands-on clinical care in a supportive acute care setting in Peoria, Illinois.

• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Start Date: August 31, 2026
• Duration: 26 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Rotation: Required
• Charting System: EPIC
• Floating: May float to other general medical units
• Call: Not required at this time

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent RN experience, preferably in telemetry nursing, step-down, cardiac care, or acute care nursing
• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Experience with EKG interpretation and medication titration
• Comfort managing adult patients with cardiac and respiratory diagnoses
• Strong foundational nursing skills and the ability to work effectively on a fast-paced unit
• Ability to work scheduled weekends and holiday rotation

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardio thoracic telemetry patients in an acute care hospital setting
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, respond to changes in patient status, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and titrate drips as ordered, including commonly used cardiac infusions
• Care for patients with conditions such as MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, chest tubes, and thoracic surgical needs
• Complete thorough assessments, document patient progress in EPIC, and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Support safe, efficient unit flow while collaborating with charge nurses, monitor techs, and support staff
• Float to other general medical units when needed
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a busy adult acute care environment
