Job Details

• Setting: Acute inpatient stepdown unit in a well-established Illinois hospital
• Location: Bloomington, IL
• Start Date: 8/31/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights; 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 3-4 patients per RN
• Unit Size: 32 beds, all private rooms
• Charting System: EPIC
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Orientation: 1 day with the education team plus 1 day of floor orientation

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience, preferably in stepdown, progressive care, or telemetry
• Strong ability to read and interpret telemetry rhythms
• Comfortable caring for patients with chest tubes
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient assignments and unit needs
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Prior travel nursing or acute care hospital experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality bedside nursing care to patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions
• Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
• Care for patients with CHF, COPD, sepsis, diabetes, pneumonia, renal issues, and post-procedure cardiac needs
• Manage patients requiring respiratory support and advanced nursing care, including BiPAP, CPAP, trachs, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines
• Support patients recovering from ablation and cardiac catheterization lab procedures
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, efficient, patient-centered care
• Float as needed to other appropriate units based on experience and patient care needs
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and follow medication safety workflows using Pyxis
