- End Date: 11/30/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 - $1,800
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Time Off: Up to 40 hours of requested time off may be approved for the contract
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Ability to care for pediatric patients across infant, pediatric, and adolescent age groups
- BSN preferred
- Virginia RN license pending may be accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before the start date
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality preoperative and postoperative nursing care for pediatric surgical patients
- Monitor recovery in Phase I and Phase II PACU settings and the Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Manage pain control, recovery needs, and discharge readiness
- Support airway management, IV therapy, medication administration, and procedural monitoring as needed
- Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgery, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members
- Educate patients and families throughout the perioperative experience
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit protocols, safety standards, and infection control practices
- Float within scope of practice when needed
