- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Schedule: 4x12, 10:45 AM - 11:15 PM
- Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend per month
- Call Requirement: Approximately 1 call shift per week
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Facility Setting: Acute care hospital with Level I trauma services
- Charting System: Cerner
- Facility Highlights: Magnet-designated, 23 operating rooms, comprehensive surgical support across multiple service lines
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2.5 years of recent Operating Room RN experience required
- Active Illinois RN license in hand or currently in process
- BLS required
- CNOR preferred
- Level I trauma experience required
- General OR and trauma nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Strong experience with Cerner preferred
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- No first-time travelers
- Ability to work within the required clinical skill set and case mix
- Flu vaccine required unless an approved exemption applies
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced surgical setting
- Support a broad range of surgical cases, including general surgery, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma
- Assist with complex procedures and high-acuity patients in the operating room
- Maintain sterile technique and uphold infection control and universal protocol standards
- Prepare and manage surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies as needed
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient procedures
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including code response and malignant hyperthermia protocols
- Float within scope when needed to support facility needs
- Participate in call coverage and weekend rotation as scheduled
