Travel Nurse Job Details
- Specialty: ICU / Critical Care Float Pool
- Employment Type: Travel RN
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Setting: High-acuity adult critical care float pool across Neuro ICU, CV/CT ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma ICU, MSICU, and IMC/Progressive Care
- Location: Madison, WI 53792
- Schedule Notes: Every other weekend and some holidays; float coverage as needed
- Orientation: 28 hours
ICU RN Job Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Experience in multiple ICU settings strongly preferred
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
- Epic charting experience required
- Telemetry exam required prior to start
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Must be comfortable working nights, weekends, holidays, and floating between critical care units
Critical Care Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in critical care and progressive care settings
- Monitor telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, vasoactive drips, sedation, and other advanced ICU therapies
- Care for patients with complex diagnoses, including trauma, neuro, burn, cardiac, and medical-surgical critical care needs
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float to designated ICU and step-down units as staffing needs require
- Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based care in a fast-moving academic hospital environment
