Job Details
- Setting: Acute care medical-surgical unit
- Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana (ZIP 46845) — a welcoming Midwest community for your travel assignment
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
- Assignment Length: 22 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
- Charting System: Epic
- Floating: May float to other medical units as needed
- Orientation: Includes hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training
Job Requirements
- Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- At least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary nursing experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a large hospital setting with 450+ beds
- Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and comfort working in a high-acuity acute care environment
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and support floating to other medical units
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care for a diverse patient population
- Complete assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Manage common med-surg therapies and equipment, including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and telemetry monitoring
- Administer and monitor heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy, and other ordered treatments
- Support patients with respiratory, GI, infectious, neurological, and mental health diagnoses
- Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, biopsies, and minor surgeries
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit protocols to support safe, quality patient care
