Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
• Active Illinois RN license in hand at time of application
• BLS certification required
• Strong experience with PICC line management and starting IVs
• Comfortable caring for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients; willingness to learn required
• Ability to care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Must be open to a patient ratio of up to 1:7 if needed
• Cerner experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality Med-Surg nursing care in an acute care hospital setting
• Perform and manage skilled nursing procedures, including IV starts, PICC line care, dressing changes, drain management, and wound care
• Support patients requiring tracheostomy, laryngectomy, ostomy, and feeding tube care
• Assist with blood transfusions, bladder irrigation, catheter care, and suctioning as indicated
• Monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team
• Document accurately in the electronic health record and maintain organized patient care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes
• Adapt to unit needs, including floating within scope and supporting a dynamic patient census
