This travel nursing job is ideal for a Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, team-based healthcare setting and has experience caring for neuro and stepdown patients. You will support patients with complex medical needs while collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe, evidence-based patient care.

Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Setting: Neuro Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit
• Role: Travel Registered Nurse (RN), PCU Nurse, Neuro Stepdown RN
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
• Shifts per Week: 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 16 weeks
• Start Date: 08/31/2026
• Location: Richmond, VA 23226
• Unit Size: 28 beds
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with neuro and stepdown needs
• Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend and major holiday coverage required
• Additional Requirement: Must pass EKG exam at orientation

Job Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of practice or compact license eligibility
• At least 1 year of RN experience required
• Minimum 6 months of dedicated Neuro experience required
• BLS and ACLS required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Ability to care for patients with acute neurological and stepdown needs
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and IV drips preferred
• Travel-ready candidate; no local candidates within 50 miles

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Monitor and manage neuro stepdown patients with complex and changing conditions
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and in accordance with standards of practice
• Care for patients receiving drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardene, Cardizem, and 3% saline
• Support patients using oxygen therapies including mid-flow, non-rebreather, nasal cannula, and BiPAP at bedtime
• Manage NG tubes, tube feedings, lumbar drains, and related clinical interventions
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment
• Collaborate with CNAs, unit leadership, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, coordinated care
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety, privacy, and infection control standards
• Deliver compassionate care to patients and families during stressful and uncertain situations
