- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Shifts Per Week: 3
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,490 - $1,570
- Call: Once every 4 weeks
- Floating: Required to nearby overflow areas, including short stay
- Weekend Coverage: Varies
- Orientation: Individualized orientation based on experience level
- Charting: Epic
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU RN experience required
- Previous travel nurse experience required
- ICU experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU recovery
- Comfort caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Ability to manage patients with advanced monitoring and recovery needs
- Open to floating within or near the facility as needed
- Must be adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality postoperative nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia
- Monitor and assess patients in Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
- Care for patients arriving from the OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, MRI, and ICU
- Support recovery for surgical specialties including thoracic, vascular, neuro, ortho, plastics, ENT, urology, gynecology, bariatrics, and pediatric cases
- Manage patients requiring close observation, including those with more complex recovery needs
- Use advanced clinical judgment to determine readiness for discharge to Phase 2, home, the post-op tower, or ICU
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe patient outcomes
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate effectively with the care team
- Maintain a calm, reassuring presence for patients and families during the recovery process
