Travel RN opportunity in Chesapeake, Virginia for an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry nurse. Join a high-volume post-surgical telemetry unit and provide adult and geriatric patient care in a fast-paced, collaborative Coastal Virginia healthcare setting.
Job Details
- Position: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
- Employment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Setting: High-volume post-surgical Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320
- Start Date: 09/14/2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule Options: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Additional Expectations: Floating and holidays may be required; travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Epic charting experience required
- Comfortable managing a typical 1:7 patient ratio
- Experience with post-surgical, urology, and GYN patient populations preferred
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- No prior license or background hits accepted
- Ability to complete required EKG testing with a passing score of 80% or higher
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for Med/Surg Telemetry patients
- Monitor telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Care for post-surgical patients, including urology and GYN cases
- Perform continuous bladder irrigation and support related post-op care needs
- Administer medications and manage common medical-surgical and telemetry interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to support quality patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic
- Promote a patient-centered environment with strong attention to safety, workflow, and quality care
