Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact state eligibility
- Preferred experience and training in a hospital-based patient care setting, with unit-specific orientation and training provided as needed
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or required per unit timing and training expectations
- Dysrhythmia exam required
- Ability to provide care for adult and pediatric patients across a range of acuity levels
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment
- Comfort with shift work and changing departmental priorities
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate patient care in the PACU using the nursing process
- Monitor patients before, during, and after recovery from anesthesia
- Assess patient condition and respond promptly to changes in status
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and policies
- Provide discharge instructions and patient and family education
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and quality outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and support efficient patient flow
- Adapt to varying shift needs and provide coverage later in the day as needed
