- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,110 - $2,220
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Schedule Notes: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled; floating within specialty and to lower-acuity areas as needed
- Unit Size: 15 beds
- Average Daily Census: 10 patients
Job Requirements
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience required
- Strong critical care experience with complex cardiac and cardiovascular patients
- BLS and ACLS required
- CPI and NIHSS required
- CCRN preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Comfortable floating within scope as needed
- First-time travelers with strong CVICU experience may be considered
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients in a fast-paced cardiac ICU environment
- Monitor and manage patients with cardiogenic shock, heart failure, acute MI, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac surgery needs
- Support advanced therapies and devices including LVAD, Impella, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, and cooling equipment
- Assist with bedside line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and targeted temperature management
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips and provide hemodynamic monitoring for unstable patients
- Interpret dysrhythmias, ABGs, and other critical data to guide timely interventions
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, coordinated patient care
- Maintain excellent documentation and uphold strong clinical standards in a high-acuity critical care setting
