- Shifts per Week: 3
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Floating: Required
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 - $1,800
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state; pending license acceptable for submittal
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Comfortable with a 2:1 patient ratio that may flex to 3:1 during high census
- Experience with vents, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, stroke care, EVDs, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, ventilated patients, and lumbar drains
- Epic charting experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Must be available for pre-approved holiday coverage as needed
Neuro ICU Responsibilities
- Provide expert bedside care to adult patients in a high-acuity Neuro ICU setting
- Monitor and manage patients with strokes, hemorrhagic events, craniotomies, seizures, aneurysm procedures, carotid procedures, and other complex neurological conditions
- Care for patients with advanced neuro devices and drains, including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino monitoring, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun equipment
- Assess neurological status, interpret cardiac rhythms, and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, blood products, and continuous IV sedation safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support coordinated patient care
- Document care accurately in Epic and follow established unit protocols
- Support patient flow by floating as needed within or near the facility
