Job Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Setting: Short-term acute care hospital
• Unit Size: 8 beds
• Patient Census: Approximately 3 per day
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Float: May float within scope to assist other units as needed
• Location: Pratt, Kansas, in south-central Kansas, offering small-town charm and a friendly community atmosphere

Job Requirements

• Current Kansas State or compact RN license in hand at submission
• At least 1 year of experience required; 2 years of Labor & Delivery / postpartum experience preferred
• Labor & Delivery and postpartum nursing experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate FHM, BLS, and NRP
• STABLE certification preferred
• Experience with newborn and maternal care in a family birth suite setting
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and float within scope
• One professional reference required

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to laboring patients, postpartum families, and newborns
• Support vaginal deliveries, cesarean recovery, and newborn assessments
• Monitor fetal status and respond to changes in maternal or fetal condition
• Assist with antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and mother-baby care
• Perform circulating, triage, and recovery duties as needed within scope
• Administer medications and therapies such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and IV fluids
• Support breastfeeding, discharge teaching, and family education
• Use strong clinical judgment to help ensure safe, efficient patient flow
• Collaborate with respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, lab, and social services teams
• Maintain a calm, supportive presence for patients during one of life’s most important moments
