Job Requirements

• Active New York RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• CPI certification required
• Experience in psychiatric nursing, behavioral health, or inpatient mental health preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a behavioral health environment
• Ability to maintain a calm, compassionate, and patient-centered approach

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through patient and family interviews to gather history and care needs
• Plan and deliver individualized nursing care for psychiatric patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Identify nursing diagnoses related to medical and emotional status and support appropriate treatment plans
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and behavioral health staff to promote effective care coordination
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, including psychotropic therapies
• Support patient understanding of emotional disturbances and the value of treatment
• Help maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
• Monitor vital signs, pain concerns, and treatment effectiveness
• Document assessments, treatments, and physician orders accurately and thoroughly
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of professional nursing practice
• Assist with administrative tasks such as charting, phone coverage, filing, and progress notes as needed
