Job Details

- Setting: High-acuity stepdown unit with ICU-level workflow
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 20 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,600-$1,680
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required as needed to a sister ICCU unit
- Charting System: Epic
- Additional Note: Strong drip experience is essential; no block scheduling
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience required
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
- Strong telemetry experience, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with IV starts, conscious sedation, and rapid response situations
- Skilled in central line, peripheral line, and PICC line management
- Experience with insulin protocols, heparin protocols, blood product administration, and isolation precautions
- Ability to manage non-invasive airway support such as BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC
- Must be comfortable floating within and near the facility as needed
- Ability to work with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for stepdown and ICU-level patients with unstable hemodynamics and respiratory distress
- Monitor and manage patients recovering from rapid response events, GI bleeds, post-op procedures, and complex medical conditions
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per unit guidelines
- Recognize, assess, and respond to rhythm changes and other patient status shifts promptly
- Support patients requiring telemetry, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
- Collaborate with rapid response, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV team, and other interdisciplinary healthcare partners
- Maintain safe, efficient care while working with a patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Adapt to a high-acuity healthcare environment with professionalism, flexibility, and strong critical thinking
