This travel nursing job is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who enjoys PCU, Med Surg Tele, and observation medicine in a collaborative acute care setting. - Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710 - $1,800
- Setting: Mixed PCU / Med Surg Tele / Med Surg Observation Unit
- Location: Toledo, OH 43606
- Shift: Day shift, 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15)
- Duration: 23 weeks
- Start Date: 09/15/2026
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Charting System: Epic required
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required within the service line and between nearby facilities as needed
- Schedule Note: Schedules may change with two weeks' notice based on staffing needs
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic experience required
- Comfortable managing intermediate medication drips, including heparin, nitro, cardizem, and insulin
- Experience with telemetry nursing and dysrhythmia management strongly preferred
- Ability to care for observation medicine, PCU, and Med Surg Tele patients
- Must be open to floating within scope to support facility needs
- Must be able to work every other weekend
- First-time travelers may be considered, especially with prior Level I or Level II trauma experience
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality progressive care nursing for patients with chest pain, atrial fibrillation, TIA, CHF, COPD, asthma, dehydration/AKI, syncope, seizures, and post-operative complications
- Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition promptly
- Assess and manage patients receiving intermediate-level medication drips in accordance with unit protocols
- Support a fast-paced observation unit with typical lengths of stay around 18 to 24 hours
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Float as needed within the service line to support unit and facility workflow
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate effectively with the care team
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while adapting to changing unit priorities
