• Orientation: Unit orientation with preceptor support plus EPIC and professional orientation

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or proof that the licensure process has been initiated
• Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience or acute care nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Strong post-operative care experience preferred
• Excellent critical thinking skills and confidence asking for help when needed
• Professional bedside manner and a team-oriented approach
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical acute environment
• Comfortable floating to like units when needed
• Must be able to adapt to unit scheduling expectations, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care to post-op surgical, trauma, overflow medical, and general Med/Surg patients
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, and patient assessments
• Care for patients with drains, NG tubes, central lines, TPN, and other common acute care needs
• Monitor and support patients on telemetry as appropriate
• Assist with CPAP and high-flow needs and collaborate with respiratory therapy as needed
• Work closely with charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care technicians to support safe patient flow
• Float to comparable units when assigned based on experience level
• Deliver high-quality care while maintaining strong communication and teamwork across shifts
