• Floating: May float to other general medical units

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
• Telemetry, cardiac, or acute care nursing experience strongly preferred
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification recommended
• Ability to interpret EKG rhythms and monitor telemetry strips independently
• Experience titrating medications and managing Cardizem and heparin drips
• Comfort working with adult cardio-thoracic and telemetry patients
• Strong assessment, communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Must be able to meet facility onboarding and drug screen requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult telemetry and cardio-thoracic patients
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in cardiac and respiratory status
• Interpret EKG rhythms and communicate critical findings promptly
• Titrate ordered drips safely and accurately according to clinical protocols
• Care for patients with conditions such as MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemakers/AICDs, and post-lung surgery needs
• Collaborate with charge nurses, monitor techs, respiratory therapy, and the care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in EPIC
• Support safe, efficient patient flow and assist with floating to general medical units when needed
• Maintain professional communication and deliver patient-centered care throughout every shift
