Experienced PACU RN needed for a fast-paced outpatient recovery team in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the desirable SouthPark area. - Orientation: 3 days on the unit
- Floating: May float occasionally to nearby Charlotte-area outpatient locations if needed
- Patient Population: Infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Work Environment: High-volume outpatient recovery setting with a supportive clinical team
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or Compact state eligibility; pending license acceptable for submission
- Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience or relevant post anesthesia care experience required
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient recovery setting required
- Ability to start and maintain IVs
- Skilled in discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and obtaining operative/procedural consent
- Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol and pain assessment/management
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Comfortable caring for pediatric and adult surgical recovery patients
- Open to a flexible schedule based on unit needs
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care for surgical patients across multiple age groups
- Monitor recovery progress and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Support pre-op and post-op workflows including patient preparation and discharge readiness
- Perform IV therapy, pain management, and medication administration as appropriate
- Educate patients and families on recovery instructions and next steps after procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical teammates to ensure smooth patient flow
- Assist with care for ENT, ophthalmology, and general outpatient surgical cases
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow established recovery protocols
- Contribute to a positive, efficient patient experience in a busy ambulatory setting
