Med/Surg Tele RN travel contract in South Austin, TX 78704—join a fast-paced medical-surgical telemetry unit and provide exceptional patient care in one of Austin’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Tele RN (Registered Nurse)
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse Contract
• Location: South Austin, TX 78704
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,350 - $1,420
• Start Date: August 3, 2026
• End Date: November 2, 2026
• Unit Setting: 30-bed neuro medical/surgical telemetry unit
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Electronic Medical Record: Meditech EMR
• Call: No call required
• Weekend Commitment: 4 shifts per schedule

Job Requirements

• Active RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing or Telemetry nursing experience
• BLS required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification or stroke care experience preferred
• ACLS preferred
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and self-motivation
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced telemetry environment
• Professional appearance in navy scrubs

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythm and neuro status, including stroke-related assessments
• Perform and document patient assessments, interventions, and care plans
• Support common unit procedures such as EEG-related care, gastric decompression, and wound care
• Respond to changes in patient condition and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate charting in the Meditech EMR system
• Promote a positive, patient-focused, and team-oriented unit culture
