Travel Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Madison, Wisconsin

• Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: Night shift, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Start Date: 10/12/2026

Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Telemetry, cardiac, oncology, and progressive care experience required
• Experience with ventilated patients and transplant care required
• Experience in an academic Level I or II trauma center, or a similar high-acuity hospital setting
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and adaptability

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with complex cardiac and medical needs
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias, including recognition of critical rhythms
• Care for patients with hemodynamic instability, multiple comorbidities, and specialty diagnoses such as pulmonary hypertension and post-transplant needs
• Manage ventilated patients and support advanced respiratory care needs
• Administer medications and therapies in accordance with cardiac stepdown and progressive care standards
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float as needed to support unit needs
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold high-quality patient care standards
