Bring your cardiac and telemetry expertise to a dynamic Med/Surg Telemetry unit in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This travel Registered Nurse opportunity offers the chance to support a dedicated care team in a well-established 42-bed cardiac medical unit, where you’ll care for a diverse patient population and make a meaningful impact every shift. - Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,840 - $1,940
- Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401
- Start Date: 09/28/2026
- Patient Facing: Yes
- Floating: May be required to float to other units and hospitals
- Schedule Notes: Every other weekend and holidays as required
- Dress Code: Solid navy scrubs
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Alabama or a compact RN license
- Associate degree in nursing required
- AHA BLS or Red Cross certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience preferred; will consider 18 months with strong professional experience and at least 1 year of recent specialty experience
- Recent Med/Surg Telemetry, cardiac nursing, or telemetry nursing experience strongly preferred
- Must have NURSYS verification and no temporary licenses accepted
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and adapt to floating as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to primarily cardiac telemetry patients on a Med/Surg Tele unit
- Monitor and respond to patients experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, and cardiac arrhythmias
- Care for medical-surgical patients with conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, GI issues, and occasional stroke
- Support surgical patients as needed within the unit
- Collaborate with nursing and ancillary staff to promote patient-centered care and positive outcomes
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Meditech
- Adapt to a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio while delivering safe, effective care
- Float to other units or hospitals when assigned
