- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 - $2,370
- Setting: Inpatient psychiatric unit serving pediatric and adult behavioral health patients
- Start Date: 9/28/2026
- End Date: 12/26/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 8-hour evenings
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
- Schedule: Every other weekend rotation; holidays worked in rotation; overtime available
- Orientation: First week on days, followed by scheduled contracted shifts
- Location: Bangor, ME 04401 — a welcoming Maine city known for its friendly atmosphere and access to outdoor recreation
- Charting System: Cerner
- Medication System: Pyxis
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of behavioral health nursing experience required
- Active Maine RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Pediatric behavioral health experience preferred
- Experience with de-escalation, physical restraints, medication passes, group facilitation, and clinical documentation
- Comfortable caring for both pediatric and adult psychiatric patients
- Willingness to float between adult and pediatric behavioral health units as needed
- Strong communication skills and a calm, team-oriented approach
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate psychiatric nursing care for inpatient behavioral health patients ages 5 through geriatric
- Support voluntary and involuntary admissions in a locked behavioral health setting
- Use therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to promote patient safety
- Administer medications and complete accurate clinical documentation in Cerner
- Lead or assist with patient groups and therapeutic activities
- Work collaboratively with nursing, psychiatry, and support staff to deliver high-quality behavioral health care
- Assist with physical restraints when clinically necessary and appropriate
- Float between pediatric and adult psychiatric units based on unit needs
