Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nursing Job
- Setting: Acute care Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Float to like units only; support roles only if floated to higher acuity areas
- Charting System: EPIC
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090 - $2,200
- Location: Quincy, IL 62301
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year of surgical nursing experience required
- EPIC experience required
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Total joint experience required
- Experience with PCA pumps, reversal agents such as Narcan, sepsis management, TPN/Lipids, and narcotic use
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips
- Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care environment with heavy patient acuity
- Experience titrating heparin drips per protocol
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients in a busy inpatient surgical setting
- Monitor telemetry, interpret strips, and respond to patient status changes
- Care for patients recovering from surgeries such as joint replacements, spinal procedures, abdominal surgery, vascular cases, and other complex conditions
- Manage common therapies including PCA, TPN, lipids, IV antibiotics, and protocol-based drips
- Collaborate with charge nurses, nursing assistants, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Support admissions, discharges, and daily patient flow in a high-volume unit
- Maintain professional standards, accurate documentation, and strong communication with the care team
