Travel CVICU Registered Nurse opportunity in Madison, Wisconsin for an experienced critical care RN seeking a high-acuity cardiovascular ICU assignment. - Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Shift Pattern: Rotating days and nights
- Schedule: Every other weekend required; some holidays; no call
- Hours per Week: 36
- Setting: Adult CVICU with high-acuity cardiothoracic and cardiac medical patients
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a compact state
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Current CVICU experience required
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH required
- Experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or an acuity adaptable unit preferred
- AHA BLS and ACLS required
- Epic charting experience required
- Previous travel nurse experience required
- Must pass a telemetry test prior to start
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Ability to float as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care nursing for critically ill cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
- Monitor and manage patients recovering from CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, aortic dissection repair, LVAD, transplant, STEMI, NSTEMI, and cardiogenic shock
- Care for patients requiring advanced support such as CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, and ventilator management
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips and interpret dysrhythmias with precision
- Manage invasive lines, arterial lines, central lines, pacing wires, and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and family-centered care in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, rapid response, and therapy services
- Adapt to changing assignments and unit needs while maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence
- Support a positive, team-oriented culture focused on patient outcomes and quality care
