- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: 09/21/2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660 - $1,750
- Healthcare Setting: Neuro and Surgical ICU within a comprehensive stroke center
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to other ICUs and intermediate care units as needed
- Scheduling: Per unit needs; block scheduling not guaranteed
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required
- Prior travel nurse experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state; pending license may be considered for submission
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Experience with ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and telemetry
- Strong background in neurocritical care, stroke care, seizure management, and titration of critical drips
- Comfort working in a high-acuity intensive care environment with invasive equipment and specialized Neuro ICU technology
- Must be willing to float within the facility as needed
- Must be able to pass EKG testing prior to start
Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care nursing to adult and geriatric neuroscience ICU patients
- Monitor and manage complex neurological and surgical ICU conditions
- Perform and assist with ICP monitoring, EVD management, lumbar drains, and ventilator support
- Titrate vasoactive, cardiac, and sedation drips according to patient needs and physician orders
- Support care for stroke, seizure, traumatic brain injury, and post-neurosurgery patients
- Manage critical care equipment and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective treatment
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC and communicate effectively using SBAR
- Promote patient safety, responsiveness, and excellent outcomes in a team-oriented ICU setting
