Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or compact state eligibility
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• At least 6 months of acute care hospital experience preferred
• BLS certification required prior to direct patient care; ACLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Progressive Care, Critical Care, or NIH Stroke certification preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
• Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients in a stepdown or progressive care setting

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Monitor and manage patients with complex, rapidly changing conditions in a PCU / Stepdown environment
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with clinical policies and best practices
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate seamless patient care
• Serve as a patient advocate while supporting families and caregivers with clear education and communication
• Respond confidently to changes in patient status and prioritize interventions based on clinical judgment
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based nursing practice
• Provide care for patients who may require chest tube management, hemodynamic monitoring, or temporary pacing support
