- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
- Location: Newport News, Virginia
- Duration: 14 weeks
- Start Date: 10/12/2026
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week, every other weekend and holiday
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Environment: Fast-paced emergency care setting with a steady patient volume
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact eligibility
- At least 2 years of RN experience required
- Emergency Department or critical care experience strongly preferred
- Triage experience preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
- CPI certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale knowledge or certification preferred
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Comfort working in a busy, high-acuity environment with diverse patient needs
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with urgent, emergent, and life-threatening conditions in the ED
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments, triage patients appropriately, and prioritize care based on acuity
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with best practices and clinical standards
- Support patients and families through clear communication, education, and compassionate bedside care
- Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and assist with stabilization and emergency interventions
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to coordinated care throughout the emergency department
- Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and a calm, professional presence in a fast-moving clinical setting
