Experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse needed for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Wilmington, NC 28401. - Shifts Per Week: 3 scheduled shifts per week; 36 or 48 hours accepted
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,660 - $1,750
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6, with comfort required for ratios up to 1:6-7
- Float Requirement: Open to floating to similar Med/Surg units and alternate inpatient care areas
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: Unit orientation plus organizational education provided
- Charting System: Epic
- Work Environment: Adult Med/Surg unit with orthopedic trauma, general surgery overflow, and select neuro trauma patients
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Prior experience caring for adult Med/Surg, ortho trauma, general surgery, or telemetry patients strongly preferred
- BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred
- Experience with Epic documentation required
- Ability to manage heparin drips and dysrhythmias
- Skilled in IV starts, peripheral and central line care, PICC management, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
- Comfort with wound care, chest tubes, surgical drains, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, and isolation precautions
- Must be comfortable with a fast-paced patient load and floating within the facility as needed
- Must be available to complete required pre-start testing, including EKG testing
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with complex orthopedic and surgical needs
- Monitor and manage heparin infusions, telemetry rhythms, and other ordered therapies
- Perform and support bedside procedures such as IV initiation, line management, blood draws, and wound care
- Care for patients with chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and colostomy needs
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe, efficient patient care
- Prepare patients for recovery and support mobility, safety, and discharge readiness
- Maintain a professional, team-oriented approach while adapting to the needs of the unit
