Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility; pending license may be accepted for submittal
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with vents, IV starts, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Strong background in stroke care, post-neurosurgery care, and management of patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, and related neuro equipment
- Epic charting experience required
- Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 2:1, with flexibility up to 3:1 if needed
- Must be available to work scheduled weekends and adapt to unit needs
- EKG testing must be passed prior to start
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult neurocritical care patients in a comprehensive stroke center
- Monitor and manage patients with strokes, subdural hematomas, craniotomies, aneurysm procedures, seizures, and other neurological conditions
- Provide care for ventilated patients and support advanced neuro monitoring and drainage systems
- Administer blood products, manage central lines, and maintain safe continuous sedation practices
- Assess neurological status, interpret rhythm changes, and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary support teams to promote optimal patient outcomes
- Document accurately in Epic and follow SBAR communication standards
- Support safe, efficient care in a high-acuity ICU environment with strong attention to detail and teamwork
