Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact license eligibility
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience in acute care, progressive care, stepdown nursing, or telemetry strongly preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS preferred at hire and must be obtained from an approved source prior to direct patient care
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Must be able to read and verify rhythm strips
• Proficiency with EKG interpretation required; EKG exam must be passed at orientation
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and BiPAP required
• Ability to perform lab draws and peripheral IV starts
• Must be comfortable floating within scope and competency as needed

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to progressive care patients with cardiac and pulmonary needs
• Conduct thorough assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Monitor telemetry and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and Amiodarone
• Manage patients requiring insulin drips and BiPAP support
• Support patients with chest tubes and other progressive care interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, effective patient care
• Educate patients and families while promoting comfort, safety, and understanding
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold quality, safety, and infection control standards
• Adapt to a fast-paced acute care environment while delivering calm, professional care
