• Position: CVICU Registered Nurse
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Travel RN
• Setting: Acute Care Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,560 - $2,700
• Start Date: 09/28/2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Shifts per Week: 4 shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 scheduled hours
• Schedule: Day shift, every other weekend, every other holiday
• Charting System: EPIC
• Unit Highlights: 20 monitored private beds, high-acuity cardiac patients, strong respiratory therapy support, and 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage

Job Requirements

• Active RN license with eligibility to work in Illinois
• Minimum of 2 years of recent CVICU experience required
• Strong experience caring for high-acuity cardiovascular and post-surgical cardiac patients
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• CCRN preferred
• Ability to independently interpret telemetry strips
• Experience titrating multiple vasoactive, sedation, and critical care drips
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-stress critical care environment
• Excellent assessment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Must be able to float to every level of care as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, high-level nursing care to cardiovascular ICU patients
• Monitor and manage patients with complex cardiac conditions, including post-operative and critically ill cardiac cases
• Titrate drips and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Interpret telemetry and monitor for hemodynamic changes
• Care for patients requiring advanced devices and therapies such as Swan-Ganz catheters, IABPs, Impellas, ECMO, CRRT, and temporary pacemakers
• Support ventilated patients and assist with CPAP, BiPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide therapy
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, and support staff to deliver coordinated acute care
• Document accurately in the electronic medical record and follow established protocols
• Float as needed and maintain flexibility across levels of care
• Promote a positive, professional presence on the unit while delivering excellent patient care
