- Duration: 15 weeks
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Hours: 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Work Setting: Acute care hospital stepdown environment
- EMR / Unit Tools: Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes
- Floating: May float to medical, surgical, and cardiovascular units as needed
- Orientation: Unit-specific orientation provided
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience in med-surg, cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or a similar acute care setting
- Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of the assignment
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required or strongly preferred based on unit needs
- Preferred certifications include PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and time-management skills
- Must be comfortable floating to related med-surg and cardiovascular units when needed
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult stepdown patients
- Monitor cardiac, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients with varying levels of acuity
- Administer medications, complete assessments, and document patient care accurately in the EMR
- Support patients requiring chest tube management, wound care, wound vacs, and other common stepdown interventions
- Collaborate closely with physicians, charge nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes
- Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
- Maintain professionalism while working across assigned units and adapting to changing patient needs
- Follow facility policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety practices at all times
