PCU Registered Nurse (Travel RN) – Progressive Care Unit in Portsmouth, NH

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent PCU, telemetry, step-down, or progressive care nursing experience preferred
• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm monitoring skills
• Experience titrating vasoactive medications such as levophed, phenylephrine, dopamine, and dobutamine
• Experience with chest tubes and post-operative patient care
• ACLS and BLS required
• Comfort working in a fast-paced cardiovascular and vascular surgery environment
• Ability to work night shifts and participate in a rotating schedule
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for progressive care patients with complex cardiac and vascular needs
• Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Titrate vasoactive drips per protocol and clinical need
• Assist with pre-op preparation for cardiovascular surgery patients
• Support chest tube management, including removal as appropriate
• Assist with arterial line removal and temporary pacing-related care
• Document accurately using the facility’s electronic medical record system
• Participate in bedside shift report and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary care team
• Collaborate with support staff to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered care
