• Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Setting: Acute Care Stepdown Unit / Telemetry-Style Cardiac Stepdown
• Location: Peoria, IL 61637
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation
• Contract Length: 15 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Charting System: EPIC

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or proof that the application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience; ICU or intermediate/stepdown experience strongly required
• Experience caring for patients with a 3:1 or 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Trach and ventilator experience required
• BLS required
• ACLS recommended
• Ability to titrate drips and manage high-acuity patients
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced healthcare environment
• Must be able to pass required screening and comply with facility onboarding requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled cardiac stepdown nursing care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs
• Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, pneumonia, cardiac conditions, and respiratory compromise
• Manage trach, vent, BiPAP, CPAP, chest tube, NG tube, G-tube, PICC, and central line patients as assigned
• Titrate medications such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and selected vasopressors per protocol
• Interpret bedside monitoring and collaborate with telemetry support as needed
• Work closely with the charge nurse, house supervisor, and patient care techs to support safe staffing and patient flow
• Float to other appropriate units when needed based on clinical experience and assignment requirements
• Document accurately in EPIC and maintain excellent communication with the care team
