- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 3 shifts per week
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 6 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770-$1,860
- Unit Setting: Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown / Progressive Care
- Charting System: Epic
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Float Expectation: Candidates should be open to floating within or near the facility as needed
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility; pending license may be considered
- Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
- Cardiac telemetry nursing experience required; stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC experience is highly valued
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac rhythm management
- Ability to manage cardiac drips, including titration when appropriate
- Experience with sheath removal, post-MI care, and pre-/post-cardiac cath care
- Comfort with non-invasive airway management, including CPAP/BiPAP
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
- Flexibility to work nights and meet weekend requirements
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care for cardiac and vascular conditions such as atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and post-procedure recovery needs
- Monitor telemetry readings, identify rhythm changes, and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias
- Care for patients recovering from CABG, valve procedures, thoracic surgeries, vascular surgeries, pacemaker placement, and other cardiac interventions
- Manage cardiac medications, drips, oxygen support, and non-invasive airway interventions per unit protocol
- Perform and assist with sheath management, chest tube care, wound care, and other specialty procedures as needed
- Use critical thinking to prioritize care across a dynamic patient assignment with variable acuity
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and the broader interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, efficient patient care
- Document accurately in Epic and communicate effectively using SBAR
- Maintain readiness for floating, unit rotation, and rapid-response situations when required
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced telemetry nursing environment
